On the 26th October from 17:30 to 19:30, in the F.lli Lorenzi’s shop in Corso di Porta Romana 1, some old sabers from 1850 to about 1900 belonging to different Cavalry units, including the Hussars of Piacenza and the “Guide” of Garibaldi, will be shown to the public and commented on by the collector Roberto Dusi.
In particular, some pieces that belonged to the Guide unit led by Colonel Missori will be showcased…
He fought with Garibaldi in several battles and in the battle of Milazzo (1860) he saved Garibaldi’s life - as he himself remembers in his Memoirs: “The opposing knights got ahead of me and I was forced to throw myself into a lateral ditch on the street, and to defend myself with my saber. Such action luckily did not last long. Colonel Missori, thanks to his skill, appeared at the head of our many contingents and saved me from the enemy who was leading the opposing cavalry” (G. Garibaldi, My Memories).
